Laura Bryant grew up surrounded by lakes, rivers, and forests in New Jersey and New York state, near the Canadian border. She also spent significant time in Eastern Quebec with family. Laura earned a BA in Education and Fine Art from the State University of New York at Potsdam and later obtained an MA in Education with an Art Emphasis from the Univ. of Colorado Boulder.

For 32 years, Laura taught art in the Boulder Valley School District, spending the last 27 years of her career as the founding art teacher at Fireside Elementary in Louisville. In addition to teaching, she has created numerous commissioned paintings, drawings, and mixed-media works. Years ago, she also ran a belly cast business for expectant mothers.

Laura's Biography

In 2023, Laura launched        LAURA: Rope Baskets & Artworks, a collection of rope baskets and artworks. Her work has been showcased at farmers' markets, galleries, winter markets, and studio tours, including Boulder Open Studios, Harlequin Gardens, and the Art Co-op in Old Colorado City. She also teaches the art of rope basket making at Maggie’s Sewing Center in Longmont and in her personal studio just west of Niwot, Colorado.

Laura and her husband, Tom, share a home near Niwot with their golden doodle, Toby. She has two grown children in Colorado, as well as two wonderful stepchildren and three young grandchildren. An avid outdoor enthusiast, she enjoys biking, hiking, swimming, and traveling with Tom. Her studio is always set up as a showroom, featuring hundreds of artworks available for purchase or viewing. 


Ever the teacher, she welcomes guests, offering insight into her creative process. Known for her gentle, patient nature, sharp wit, and infectious laughter, Laura continues to inspire through her art and teaching.
